My weekend.

Had a 2.5 day weekend and this is what happened with the few additonal hours – homemade caramels and gambling. We’re a wild bunch around here. Watch out!

Fa la la.

My poor faux tree is too mini for our living room. Time for an upgrade!

Just a few holiday updates from your truly! Below, are a few pics of some of our holiday decorations that were put up last weekend. Everything I had from the condo looks uber dinky in our new house so I’ll def be hunting for decor sales after the holiday. A taller faux, flocked tree, sparkly swag and outside lights will top the list – day after Christmas Target shoppers beware! I’ll be throwin’ elbows for those glittery thangs! I’ve also tagged a few interesting craft projects on Pinterest like this and this. Hopefully I can tackle some next fall in time for the 2014 holiday season. JK, I’ve got a wedding to plan….blargh.

Our yellow front door always looks a bit more festive with a lil somthin’ somethin’

Holiday shopping is well underway in our household. I spent the day after Thanksgiving on the couch, iPad in hand, ordering gifts and most have already come in the mail. And….wait for it….50% are already wrapped and under the tree! I don’t know how I got so ahead with gifts this year – I’m kind of amazed with myself. And most importantly, I have yet to set foot in a mall! (Happy dance.)

I haven’t spent much time in the kitchen lately but am looking forward to cooking a few holiday treats this coming weekend. My first attempt at caramels last year was a success BUT I’ve managed to lose the recipe – WTF? All I have is one picture from the blog, where there’s like 4 sticks of butter and a lot of brown sugar in a large pan. I’m hoping those hints will help me find my killer recipe. UGH. I’m also on the hunt for THE PERFECT holiday cookie to bring to the family party. Not sure exactly what that will be, but they need to look interesting and taste good. I know, I know….I have high standards 🙂

So what are you doing to bring on the holiday cheer this year??

Can’t forget our Hanukkah entry table!

Rainer through the wire.

Been digging the sunsets around our ‘hood recently. Thought I would check out Rainier from Boeing Field – there’s this tiny little park right where the planes take off and land that I’d been meaning to stop by since, like forever. OK, so maybe not forever, but since we’ve moved to Beacon Hill. Sheesh. I wasn’t able to catch any planes in action, they literally fly right over your head, but that mountain looked mighty fine bathed in some of the last rays of the day.

Goodwill Glitter Sale 30th Anniversary!

We made our annual trek to the Goodwill Glitter Sale a few weeks back. Our gal pals Jenae and Caety killed it and got in line at 3am – yes, that’s 3am in the freaking morning! – to get our awesome place. Megan and I rolled in around 6am to relieve them for a coffee and potty break. We cut our numbers in line by half this year; last year we were around 110th. Word on the street is that the people in the very front camped out starting at 8pm the night before – ummmm no thanks. IMO, as  long as you are in the first 250, you are good to go!

I was on a mission this year for fun wedding accessories, but came out empty handed. Since I don’t have my dress yet, it was hard to know which direction to take the jewelry. Womp womp. BUT I did end up with a greyish white 70s long wool jacket with a fur color in mint condition for $50. You guys, it was like it had never been worn before! A quick trip to the dry cleaner and that bad boy will be ready to take on the town!

Next year, the sale will be right around the time of our wedding so sadly I’ll have to miss it. This gal is going to need her beauty sleep not a 5am wake up call before her big day 😉

Birthday Dessert Buffet

Just a cute lil collage from my Aunt’s bday party two weekends ago – sorry for the delay in posting – been a bit sick over here. Hit up Noble Court for a bomb Chinese dinner then came home to this wicked dessert buffet. I made pumpkin whoopie pies, which I had been dying to make ever since I pinned them on Pinterest, oh let’s say, three years ago! They were actually very easy to make and the recipe I used (check it out here from the Eat Drink Pretty blog) made a TON of cookies.

Happy bday to my favorite aunt!!!
