Clam digging on the Washington Coast

You guys…the Washington Coast. My FAVORITE place to be in this entire world (as you can tell by the photo above.) We had hearts set on NYE down there since before the wedding. Dec. 31 is always a tad boring in town so we gathered up our nearest and dearest to make the trek to Pacific Beach. Where else can you party in sweat pants AND have it be totally acceptable? Duh.

Our caravan included 9 people and 3 happy dogs, 2 extra aerobeds and enough snacks to last 3 weeks. We had some newbies join us and I was more than happy to show them the awesomeness that is PB. I think they liked it 🙂

We spent one sunny and two rainy days at our rental – cookin’ up delicious eats, day drinking and most importantly digging razor clams. And yes, I dug in a tee shirt. You know clamming is good when all you need are waders and a tee. Oh and the goddess gun. Watch out clams!

Going through maj vacation/beach withdraws this week. Where are my endless games of RISK and bottomless BLs? And this whole getting up before 10am thing? Weird stuff I tell yah. Man, these next few months are going to be rough. No long weekends, no holidays…just a whole lotta work. I’m just going to go cry in a corner for a little bit.

Within Sodo wedding venue - cultivatedrambler.comOh man, weddings go by SO fast. I wish I could have had four more hours of this stuff! I didn’t get to chat with nearly enough people, stuff my face with that dessert bar, nor dance to enough songs. Sigh. What I would give to experience it all over again…though not that whole planning part! Forget that. What a pain in the ass that was. Whoever enjoys wedding planning must be on one. Eesh.

The speeches were short, sweet and sassy. The cake was not only gorgeous but tasted delish. And the dancing was off the chain. The night ended with the song “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers and a soul train appeared out of nowhere. It was utterly magical and the perfect way to end the official party. Mind you the after party went on until 4am #shlomo! Who do you think we are ;-)?

OK, one last post coming up! The wedding video!!!

Within Sodo Seattle wedding venue - cultivatedrambler.comWe got married at Within Sodo, this cool event space in South Seattle. It was actually the only one we saw in person. I had my eye on the Georgetown Ballroom, but it had an exclusive caterer – boo to that right there. We were utilizing a family friend that’s a local caterer and needed to find a space that would allow us to bring in whomever we wanted. Within is one of the few places in town that allows any caterer in their space. Love it.

Ketubah signing - cultivatedrambler.comKetubah signing - cultivatedrambler.comThe space is really a blank canvas, which is both a good and a bad thing. Good because you can make it what you want. Bad because making it what you want requires a ton of rentals and rentals equal $$$. I about fainted from seeing the rental bill. Yikes.

Chuppah at Within Sodo Seattle wedding venue - cultivatedrambler.comWe had a reform Jewish wedding ceremony so we signed a ketubah prior to it, which I enjoyed more than I thought! Our ceremony was not one of those 5 minute quickies you see these days and we incorporated many traditions into it including circling, wine drinking and of course, the stomping of the glass. As much as I fought it at first, I really loved how it all came out in the end. It was a super meaningful and special ceremony to us!

Seattle wedding photography Sodo - cultivatedrambler.com

We didn’t have a large wedding party, which was a good thing and a bad thing. Good because there were less people to round up and bad because we didn’t get any photos with our dear friends. Looking back, I should have found a way to make the friends photos happen. Darn it. BUT action shots happened, so there’s that!Bride and maid of honor photo shoot in Seattle - culitvatedrambler.com

Groom and best man photo shoot - culitvatedrambler.comFun wedding photo shoot idea - culivatedrambler.comThe family photos were the ones I was most nervous about. I was a mild train wreck at this point in the day. We’d been taking photos for a few hours and I just wanted to be done and relax a little. Rounding up everyone was a bit of a task and I suspect I might have yelled at people once or twice. Sorry/not sorry people.
