2015 planning.

Seattle spring garden plan - cultivatedrambler.com

I know my fiance will just shake his head at this post – planning for something that’s 6 months down the road?! I’ve officially entered the nut house as far as he is concerned šŸ™‚

Above, is my rendition of my 2015 veggie garden plan (the red star burst things are flowers). I’ve taken what I’ve learned this year and made adjustments accordingly with a lil crop rotation. I’ve read that you should move plants around every year as to not strip the soil of it’s nutrients since different plants need different things. I’m so scientific, I know…

I also plan on adding a small, raised bed by our shed which will give me more growing room. Not sure what’s going to go there quite yet – such important decisions to make I know! It’s North/South facing, but is on the side of the building so it won’t get the morning sun, but will stay nice and toasty in the afternoon. Open to suggestions if you have ’em! I’m also trying to figure out other potential garden add on space. This girl can’t get enough!

Other goals I have for the upcoming gardening season:

  • figure out our stupid gutters – add 2 rain barrels to our house
  • add dwarf apple and pear trees along the fence line
  • add blueberries – not sure where these will go…
  • build a raised bed next to shed
  • add WAY more flowers for pollinators plus create a mason bee house
  • work on patio garden – add stuff ie. perennials that are purdy

Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle - cultivatedrambler.com

We had a random free afternoon recenty and decided it was time to visit the SAM Outdoor Sculpture Park. I just wanted to be outside and the Mr. wanted to test out his new camera. Sadly, his camera did not make it through our visit. Something about the lens overheating or what not? Either way, he was MAJ bummed since he’d only owned it for a few short weeks. To the camera fix-it place it goes….womp, womp.

I took these few snaps with ma iphone before the camera crap out happened. Enjoy!

a smelly bday.

King Charles Mix Dog

I don’t know the time or date of when you were born, nor do I know your birth parents. They said you and your siblings were an accident, an accident that I was happy to take. This year is your ninth year of life – aka 63 in dog years – though you act like you are a spry two year old, which amazes me with all that you’ve been through.

You’re getting a tad bit greyer around the muzzle and are getting very set in your ways, like most older folks do, but I love you none the less. You’ve taught me responsibility, perseverance (especially when it comes to cookies) and that a head scratch is WAY more important that an iphone.

Happiest birthday to my #1 puppy.

Love,
Your Mamma

Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle - cultivatedrambler.com

I was cleaning out my phone photos the other day and totes forgot to share these with you! My gal pals always try and get together at least every other month to hang out and catch up. We’ve got one in Cle Elum, one on the Eastside, one down South then there’s me in the big ole city and it can be a challenge at times to find something that can work for all of us. I wish I could see these ladies more, but am so grateful we can connect when we do.
Our recent adventure was to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. It was a bit touristy, but none of us had been so off we went! The museum itself wasn’t huge. I suspect it only took us about 30 minutes to walk through everything, but man, in those 30 minutes your eyes had such beautiful things to see. Something about Chihuly glass just makes yah feel good, yah know? Speaking of Mr. Chihuly, he was there doing some book signing and we had a lovely, but quick exchange near the bathrooms šŸ™‚
We also made reservations at the Collections Cafe, which was stellar. We opted for patio seating and had a great lunch together. I’d definitely recommend doing this if you’re going to visit. The admission price isn’t cheap so it felt like we got a bit more bang for your buck if you will by dining there.
What are your fav, touristy Seattle haunts?

post-november.

Red grapes from the yard. WTF? Totally edible.
Hi there acorn squash!

Gosh you guys, I wish I had more interesting things to talk about
besides the garden and the wedding! My content has def skewed that way
recently. Man, what am I going to do when winter hits the veggie patch
and the wedding is over with?! What am I going to do with myself?
Ahhhhhhhh!

Wait? What is that you say? You’ll have your
weekends back to go to a movie or hang out with friends without making
them give you their opinion on centerpieces? Your bank account will
(hopefully) go back to normal? You can buy clothing that’s not white and
doesn’t include a veil? You don’t have to spend every Saturday of the
month weeding? Get out! Man, November 16 will really be the sweetest day
EVER.

In anticipation of all of the cool things that will fill in my newly spared time, I suspect I just might do things such as:

  • Pick up my golf game! Jefferson Park Golf Course is putting the
finishing touches on their new, two story driving range, just in time
for me to work on my swing again. Fore!
  • Find new places to volunteer around Beacon Hill. I suspect the
Beacon Food Forest will play a role in this, but I’m open to other
suggestions too. I like getting involved in the community. It just feels real nice.
  • Plan a bathroom remodel šŸ™‚ I’m sorry, I just can’t help myself! The
house stuff will continue! I’ve never taken on a full remodel before so
I’m half excited/half scared outta my mind on this one.
  • Continue to hone my cooking skillz. Find that killer crockpot recipe
or learn how to make Indian food. There’s only so much chicken a gal
    can eat without getting bored.
