Love.

I love you for all that you are,
All you have been,
And all that you are yet to be.
So the BF and I have been dating for 7 years, yes, that’s 7 years people! Not 7 months, not 7 weeks, 7 YEARS. Though if I think back on our time together, it really doesn’t feel that long – I take that as a sign that we were meant to be šŸ™‚ Last Saturday evening, he sweetly got down on one knee after dinner on Alki Beach and asked me to marry him with THE MOST gorg ring. Swoon. I must say, I’m the Queen of Patience, but he was worth the wait. (and of course, I said yes! among lots of tears….)
We began dating after he graduated from college. He was a bit wary of me at first, but I was relentless and soon we were exclusive. We spend a good part of our mid and late twenties together – him eventually starting his own business, me buying a condo, a scary/mysterious dog illness, trips to Mexico, trips to Panama, Sonics games, endless concerts, most recently buying a new home in Seattle……so many lovely, lovely memories with this man.
He’s the smartest, handsomest, most hardworking and passionate person I know. Did I also mention that he grows the most redonk beard in the 206 area code? Men are seriously jealous of his facial hair! I am beyond exciting to share this next chapter with him- celebrating our love, making new memories and one day building a family together.
Stay tuned for our fall 2014 wedding here in good ole Seatown!

Entry action.

One of the many projects I finished during my week off of work – our front door was begging for a vibrant, fresh color. Since our hizzle is south facing, Feng Shui suggested that it be painted a fire color ie. red, orange or yellow so that the good energy would know where to enter šŸ™‚ Orange was automatically out (sorry orange lovers, it’s just not my thang) so we were left with red and yellow, both of which would have worked fine with the grey exterior and white trim colors. I took a quick friends and family survey and ended up with yellow – Summer Squash to be exact. As you all know, we are a Sonics lovin’ household so anything close to green and/or gold works for us!

I followed in the footsteps of one of my fav DYI blogs, Young House Love, and deglossed, TPCed and sanded it before painting 4 thin, even coats of paint. It was really a day long process so be sure to keep that in mind if you ever decide to paint yours because the door has to be open ALL DAY LONG. I started this project at 3pm and didn’t finish until after 10pm. Luckily, our storm door locks so I didn’t feel too freaked out leaving it open into the evening hours. Speaking of the storm door, I was going to remove it, but as ugly as it is, it’s growing on me. Being able to have screened front and back doors open makes things a bit more bearable when it’s hot outside.

With this paint lookin’ all fresh like, it’s time to jazz up the rest of the front entrance. I’ve got some plans in mind:
  • Replace gold porch light with new black one DONE!
  • Move mailbox to street, per the postman’s request DONE!
  • Paint hand rail black
  • Update house numbers (paint onto steps?)
  • Add wind chime (also good Feng Shui)
  • Add potted plants in fire colors DONE!
  • Replace door mat
Stay tuned….pics of the entire update to come!

SEA Music.

Took one day out of my vacation week (aka house labor week) to straight up relax and catch up on the Seattle music scene. The BF and I had our eyes on Bumbershoot – Monday’s line up was pretty killer and we had a free ticket coming our way. He got on good ole CL the morning of the festival to pick up another one for yours truly and ended up trading a Sonicsgate DVD and t-shirt for two additonal FREE tix (keep in mind, tickets at the door were $60!) Besides lunch and a few beers, this ended up being a cheap day for us šŸ™‚
Rocked out to MGMT, swayed to Alt-J (the best performance of the day.), threw our hands up with Sol, crooned with Allen Stone, questioned what I was doing watching the darkness that is Deerhunter and ended the night with The Joy Formidable who somehow broke their drum set and took a 20 minute break right in the middle of their set – weird. Overall, a great day! So glad Bumbershoot is steppin’ up their musical game again…..this girl can dig it.
And not to be overshadowed by the local music festival….SNOOP LION (aka Snoop Dogg) was in the hizzle a few days prior to that so we hit up Showbox SODO for his show. I think we were all hoping for more “Lion” and less “Dogg”, but it was a fun show and he rapped plenty of hits. Westside!
