Sew what?

I cashed in a Groupon at the very last minute last weekend for a sewing class. I tots wasn’t really feeling it at first and ALMOST ditched class….man, I’m so glad that I didn’t! I’d always wanted to learn how to sew; I’d messed around on our family machine off and on, but nothing ever came out very well.  Curtain hemming was my level of expertise. Womp, womp.

I spent 3 hours that Sunday learning how to make this tote bag, which I fully lined too! I admit, the tote is not really my style and you’ll probably never see me rockin’ it. But what it lacks in style, I gained in sewing confidence! I was so excited that I caught on so fast that I signed myself up for 3 more classes. I’ve also been pinning items like a fool. I can’t wait to tackle some projects on my own! Now I just need to get one of them sewing machines……..

Sigh.

Some days, I feel like doing this……arg, the stresses of being an event planner during event season! That explains my MIA-ness…..June 5th can’t come soon enough.

So this happened…..

…..then this happened. Oh Seattle! And guess what? It’s going to be in the mid 60s this weekend. Go figure but we’ll take it!

The drive to work – WTF?
When driving in snow, one must stop for doughnuts first.

X Country X Pedition

I hit the trails for the second weekend in a row, this time with my sister and aunt. I’m officially a cross country addict people! As you can see, when sis and I are together, photo ops take priority šŸ™‚

For those of you familiar with Snoqualmie Pass, we went about 3/4 of the way around one side of “Stump Lake.” This was more of a traditional trail with fewer hills which actually made it seem harder. It was a constant go go go vs. the ups and downs of last weekend’s trip. Besides one lunch break, we were on our skis for over 3.5 hours. I must admit, I was not lovin the last 30 minutes of it, but we powered through!

Unfortunately, cross country will not be in the cards for this weekend but I do hope to go one more time. I’m also scouring the Internet for a nicely discounted pair o skis so I’ll be ready to roll come next winter!

Weekend in review

It’s been a crazy few weeks around here and work is starting to kick into high gear. I’ve been trying to get in some fun before the Luncheon becomes the all consuming monster it tends to be. Visits with friends, crafts and cross country skiing all topped my list this past weekend.

A little event planner networking event at MOHAI’s new location in the SLU.
Luncheon centerpiece brainstorm.
My first attempt at a diaper cake. Success.
Diaper cake topper. A whale of a tale.
My new fav hobby!
