Bright baubles

I love getting fun things in the mail and I also love me a good beauty product so when I found out about Birchbox I was all game! I immediately signed up and patiently waited to get accepted (side note: what is it these day about web sites making you wait to join? not a fan.) I finally got the email saying i was ‘in’ about two weeks later and two weeks after that, I got my first shipment.
For those of you not in the know, Birchbox sends you a box of beauty and lifestyle samples once per month for $10, which includes the shipping fee. They wrap it up all cute like for you too! You then can buy full sizes of whatever you like through their web site for a discount. Highlights of this past month’s shipment included hair oil, which I had always wanted to try and really liked and these stick on eyeliners. Haven’t had an occasion to rock those yet, but I think they are going to be fierce! Although every item might not be a hit, some will make for great travel beauty supplies. I can’t wait to see what next month brings!
Made these delicious goodies for the double holiday weekend….first attempt at macaroons and they came out fantastic if I do say so myself! I think adding that bit of almond extract made the difference in flavor. Check out the recipe here at Skinny Taste – one of my new fav food bloggers!
With two out of four events under my belt, I figured it was time to get a real vacation on the books. Tossed around a few ideas, but we ended up with Mexico after seeing this post from a fellow blogger. Just looking at one photo made me want to jump on a plane ASAP.
Booked our trip for eight glorious days south of Cancun in the towns of Playa del Carmen and Tulum (photo above is one of the resorts, Playa Azul, that we’ll be staying at in Tulum). This area is famous for its Mayan ruins and cenotes. I can’t wait to explore, swim in the ocean and drink many, many margaritas!
