Yum to the Rum.

Seems like you always need to stock up on booze over the holidays – well at least I do. Found a great mail-in rebate for $8 when you purchased 2 – 750ml spirits! Trekked it to the liquor store last night and both bottles I wanted happened to be on sale. Here’s the breakdown:

Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka $13.95
Captain Morgan’s Spiced Run $17.95
-$8 mail-in rebate=
$11.95 each!!!

Now I’ve got plenty of booze for my jello shots (red and green of course!) and my hot buttered rum, which is my new addiction.

Recipe as follows:

1 lb. salted butter – room temperature
1 lb. light brown sugar
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 qt. vanilla ice cream – softened
2 T. vanilla
2. T. cinnamon
1 T. nutmeg

You basically mix all of this stuff together with a hand mixer until smooth. It can be stored in the fridge or freezer.

How to make the drink:

1 shot of rum
2 T. of hot buttered rum mix
8-10 oz. of hot water

Stir and enjoy…and enjoy….and enjoy.

Kind of a big deal.

Or so that’s what I’ve been told. But the more I think about it, the more I’m pretty sure it is! The BF was featured in an article about Seattle Sonic fans. I guess the NBA is looking to become a bit more friendly with the Seattle market since the New Orleans Hornets will most likely be going up for sale in the near future. This article would never have run a year ago. Just sayin’…..

Just a cute pic of Stella. She’s THE WORST photo taker in the world so I’m always so glad to see one good one out of hundreds. Silly dog.

Misc. Holiday 1

After a smattering of snow this past week, I got WAY too into the holiday spirit. I think it was all of the sitting around indoors trying to stay warm and hoping my garden was going to make it through the deep freeze! Those poor plants! Ran a few errands on Black Friday to pick up the last few decorations and then it was on. Cork wreath – check. Disco Christmas Tree – check. Smelly holiday candles – ewww, gross. Pointsettas – check. Can’t wait for our Ugly Holiday Sweater Party!

Deals of the Week!

Still trying to get a grasp on this coupon business…..it’s far more time consuming than I had ever imagined! I’m not getting those $3 grocery bills like the experts do, but I am saving anywhere from $5-$15 off each of my bills. Every little bit helps. I seem to have had the best luck at RiteAid – a place I had never really shopped at before – go figure. Got hair gel there the other week for free!

Here are a few of my deals of the week that I’ll be heading out for:

*Buy 10 selected items and get $5 off your bill – when I calculated this out for the items I chose, it worked out to be $1.06 for each item – nice!

*They also had a few buy 1, get 1 free meat items (chicken and chuck roast) which I always love since we seem to blow through meat pretty quickly. Albertson’s has this deal too on a ton of meat.
*Classico Pasta Sauce – buy 1, get 1 free plus I’ve got a manufacturer’s coupon for $1 off 2 products so you’re looking at $2.39 for both or $1.19 each! Love it.

I’m also loving the online shopping list for these grocery stores. You can browse through the weekly ads and compile a printable list. Add a few of your notes ie. manufacturer’s coupons and you’re good to go!
