AM Meeting

Forgot to post these photos from a work event I produced and managed a little while back. It was out 120th Annual Meeting and Birthday Celebration so naturally we went with a birthday theme. Sometimes, it’s good to go back to the b-day roots of balloons, noisemakers and streamers!

A taste of what’s to come.

Spent a good part of my Labor Day weekend crafting away. Man, it felt good to bust out those scissors and work that tissue paper again! It’s the small things that count, right?
Here’s a sneak peak of the sprinkle decor – can’t wait to celebrate tomorrow!

I managed my first, and hopefully only, wedding of the year over in Leavenworth, WA the other weekend for a friend’s younger sister. I do these from time to time – managing the ‘day of’ logistics (my favorite part). I save the real planning for the brides, since most like to do that stuff anyways!

After 12 years in the event planning biz, I like to think of myself as a pretty solid planner, but for some reason this one really kicked my arse. I could blame it on a multitude of things: me being older, the 100 degree heat, the ceremony and reception sites being super far apart, the dust/wind/bees etc. whatever it was burned me out. For those of you out there who do this for a living, my hat is off to you. Weddings just seem ten times harder than any of the events I plan….or maybe it’s just the pressure of making this extra special day absolutely perfect.

Complaining aside, everything went remarkably smooth and I was thrilled that it all came together in the end. The bride went for a country chic theme and it was truly lovely. They had a close family friend make the swag and burlap accessories, which lent a personal and rustic touch – that gal needs to be on Etsy! Other highlights included local pies for dessert instead of cake and strawberry jam as both the takeaway and the seating assignment. Overall, a wonderful wedding day for a handsome couple!

Congratulations Mac and Johnny!

Dance magic with the Craft Spells

It’s showtime!

Craft Spells fun.

Pure dance magic with the Sugiura sisters.

Saw my first show at the Neptune and saw my first performance of Craft Spells (my sister’s BF is their drummer – go Andy!) Majorly good and totally 80s/The Cure but updated with a twist – you get what I’m saying, right? 🙂

Reminded me of the days when the BF was rippin’ the guitar in his band around the music venues of Seattle. Sort of miss those days, but sort of don’t. It’s always a treat to see your man up on the stage, but it’s not a treat to spend your weekends in dark, dingy bars. My, how we all grow up!

Sprinkled with love

I’m planning my first sprinkle shower for a dear friend whose finally able to adopt a little girl from China after a six year wait. Six years! Don’t even get me started about this – they should have been given a child 5 1/2 years ago!

She will be two years old when they pick her up this fall so we thought we’d host a sprinkle, not a baby shower since she won’t be needing the onsies and such. For those of you not in the know, a sprinkle is like a baby shower but is used to celebrate second, third or adopted kids. It’s a way to still have a party without all of the goo goo gag gag stuff.

I had a blast making the invite (above) and as you can see pink camo and cupcakes will be the theme for the afternoon. I’ve been pinning like crazy, of course, and am looking forward to attempting to make ruffle ribbon garlands, cupcakes out of cute little tees and all of the other wonderful, girly decor. Stay tuned!
